Watergrasshill Juvenile Section
Welcome to our juvenile section of the club which was officially launched in August 2019. Since our pilot program our numbers have been increasingly growing with over 100 juvenile members registered.
Our objective is to provide a safe, caring, friendly and fun environment for children. We endeavour to provide the necessary coaching expertise required to enable young athletes of all abilities to reach their full potential.
We are a friendly club and all new members are warmly welcomed. The club welcomes all children regardless of ability. We believe all children will benefit from the activities and we give all new members time to settle and offer a trial period.
Our juvenile section is broken up into different groupings depending on age and ability. We work off a colour coding system and all groups have a ratio 1:10 (one coach per 10 athletes)
We cater for juveniles (boys&girls) aged eight years of age upwards. These years are an important time in a child’s development and the aim is to help children develop agility, balance and coordination. This is the FUNdamental stage in the long term physical development for children which will benefit each child in future sporting activities/achievements. The focus of introducing athletic movement is in a fun, exciting and non-competitive environment.
Our training is held on Tuesday evenings and the session lasts one hour 6pm-7pm, during which we cover FUN games while developing fitness. Using props such as hurdles, ladders, beanbags, hoops etc in which the children will work on running, throwing, jumping and developing their natural fitness and endurance in the process.
Our juvenile athletes are coached by a dedicated team of club members who give willing and freely of their time. Although new coaches and volunteers are always welcome.
